During my three years in high school, I participated in many animal protection-related activities. Before high school, I was already very interested in documentaries about animals and would often read encyclopedias about them. The words "endangered" and "vulnerable" on the pages made me start to take an interest in this cause.
Panda Conservation, Sichuan China
I took part in three activities in different places: the first was in Ya'an, Sichuan, to protect pandas, which are famous endangered animals in our country. I helped feed them, promote awareness, and build their dormitories. This experience gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation of pandas and the people working hard to protect them.
Sea Turtle Conservation, Huizhou China
The second was a sea turtle conservation activity in Huizhou, Guangdong. It allowed me to get up close and personal with sea turtles, apply medicine to them, promote awareness, feed them, and clean their pools. This made me realize the great sacrifices and efforts made by certain groups of people for animals and also made me aware of the importance of this cause.
Mangrove Conservation, Hua Hin Thailand
The third was an environmental protection activity for mangroves in Thailand. As a habitat for countless species, mangroves are very important, but such habitats are disappearing. We picked up garbage, planted trees, and carried out various activities. We also collected local soil to test for pollutants.
